Born and raised in Charleston, Chris, and his wife of 30 years, (formerly Kim Yeager), both grew up on James Island. Chris and Kim have three children: Christopher, Jr., 27, lives in West Ashley, Jennifer 24, lives in Mt. Pleasant, and Ashley, 18, is still at home.

After graduating from Porter-Gaud School in 1974 Chris went on to receive his Bachelor of Arts in History from the College of Charleston in 1978. He received his Masters of Divinity from Trinity Seminary in Ambridge, PA, in 1988. Prior to his ordination to the Priesthood in 1989, Chris served as Branch Manager and Commercial Lending Officer with C & S Bank in Charleston.

Chris has been a pioneer in the Contemporary Christian Worship scene in Charleston since the 1970s. He began his ministerial outreach when he led a dynamic music ministry that traveled throughout the Southeastern United States teaching renewal worship. At St. Phillips Church, in Charleston, he led the Wednesday Evening contemporary service, working with the Rev. Renny Scott and the Rev. Terrell Glenn. These musical services brought in people of all walks of life, denominations, and beliefs and led many people to Christ. After seminary, Chris’ first call to serve as pastor led him to Bennettsville, S.C. Three days before the Huff family arrived a St. Paul’s, the education building burned to the ground at the hands of an arsonist. Chris not only led the congregation through the trauma of rebuilding, but helped set the dwindling congregation “on fire for the Lord,” resulting in an unprecedented growth in the church and a powerful witness to the Lord within the entire community that continues to this day.

Chris returned to Charleston in 1993, where he served as rector of St. Peter’s Episcopal Church until 1998. In the summer of 1998, he had the privilege of heading up a new church plant. A new vision, West Shore Church , was born.

Along with his anointed speaking, writing, and leadership abilities, Chris is a skilled sailor, musician, painter, and woodworker. He also enjoys exploring and restoring the intricate mechanisms of fine clockworks. Chris's true passion, however, is seeing men and women everywhere experience the awesome love of God that changes lives and overcomes the challenges of life.

"God wants to pour out His blessings on us even more than we want Him to. So let's open up our hearts and let Him start pouring!"

He wears no mask and his message is simple and powerful. His style is relational; he likes to come alongside and walk with you through your faith. His vision is to lead youth to become biblically literate, “kingdom-minded” people. He believes in relational youth ministry and along with his leadership team, walks beside the youth during their middle and high school years.

The West Shore Youth Group enjoys their time together. Under his leadership, they take pleasure in meeting for worship and bible study and participating in fun activities; playing sports, taking rafting and ski trips, and partaking in Diocesan events.

Tim Evans came to West Shore Church in 2006, but God has been preparing him for his ministry for most of his life. He began learning to lead worship as a backup guitarist at St. George’s Episcopal Church, in North Charleston, SC, at the age of ten. He recognizes Oeland Camp, youth minister at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Summerville, SC, as an inspiration in his spiritual life while he was in high school. Tim began to understand what worship leading and relational youth ministry was as a participant in Saint Paul’s Youth Group. With Oeland and the youth group, he assisted with the worship at events at Montreat College, the Episcopal Diocese of South Carolina, and Six Flags over Georgia; experiences that made lasting imprints and from which he draws encouragement.

Another influence was Michael McIntyre, Youth Minister & Worship Leader at Saint James Church, James Island. Under the leadership of Mike M, he was blessed with the opportunity to be a part of St. James’ Saturday Night Jesus worship team, also while he was still in high school.

In preparation for his own ministry, and with the encouragement and support of the Diocese, churches and leaders, Tim interned as youth minister/worship leader at Saint Philip's Episcopal Church in downtown, Charleston, SC, under Chris Thompson from 2002-2006. He learned all aspects of youth ministry from Chris through participation in teaching and through observation of other youth ministers in action. While there, he learned the importance of developing a leadership team and ways to carry out relational youth ministry. As a part of the thriving ministry at St. Philip’s and as a member of their worship team, he participated in Diocesan Episcopal youth retreats such as Mondo, Great Weekend, and Regenerate and led worship on group retreat ski trips and mission trips abroad.

Through his walks alongside these impressive youth mentors, Tim has come to be acquainted with a large network of youth ministers in our area that are a great resource to him and his ministry at West Shore Church. We, at West Shore Church, are grateful to have such a talented minister teaching our youth and serving our congregation.

Tim was born in Greenville, SC and was raised in the tri-county area. He has earned an Associate of Arts degree from Trident Technical College, in Charleston, SC and is currently enrolled at the College of Charleston, downtown, where he is pursuing majors in psychology and jazz guitar in their excellent music department.
